First Update to ‘Angry Birds Rio’ is a Day at the Beach

Back in March Rovio Mobile released Angry Birds Rio, a version of their incredibly popular bird-themed physics game Angry Birds that tied into the also bird-themed movie Rio.

Normally movie tie-in games aren’t very good, but we were pleasantly surprised with Angry Birds Rio in our review, even awarding the game 5 stars. More than just a Rio re-skin of the original game, it actually contained a few new elements and improvements that made it almost feel like a full-fledged sequel.

In following with Rovio’s practice of adding plenty of new levels to the original Angry Birds and Angry Birds Seasons, they have released a trailer for the first update that is set to hit for Angry Birds Rio, subtitled “Beach Volleyball”:

Rovio has stated on their Facebook page that this new update is set to hit sometime this week. If you’ve been enjoying Angry Birds Rio as much as we have, then keep your eyes peeled for an App Store update badge these next few days to check out the new Beach Volleyball levels.

There’s no rest at all for the Angry Birds, a new episode update for the main version of Angry Birds will be available any moment in the app store (and Android Market as well we guess). This time our bad ass birdies go pig hunting really deep. We will sure see new Golden Eggs and maybe some unique objects to unlock. Carnival Upheaval Update for Angry Birds Rio is here!

Carnival Upheaval, the Angry Birds Rio world update, wasn’t supposed to be released until July, at least that was what Rovio’s tweets stated. The 3 star angry birds carnival walkthrough and the papaya locations can be found after the links. So far it’s only available for iOS but the Amazon App Store for Android users should have it anytime soon.

What’s the catch here? well, there are still 15 levels more, but these will be made available in July, the original release date for Carnival Upheaval. If Carnival Upheaval appears locked in your app, that is probably because you need to finish the Beach Volley update first.

A new update has just been released for Angry Birds Rio Free version. The most exiting part of this release is that it includes all Golden Beachball levels! (but only for iOS devices, Android users with the free Rio version won’t get any Golden Beachball for now). Bear in mind that the level numbering to unlock the hidden beachball differs from the full version (the level scenerario is the same) being 3-2 for the free version. If you are wondering how to unlock the secret golden beachball levels for Angry Birds Rio, just follow the link. The question remains though, as to why users who paid $5 in order to get the PC version, still need to buy the DVD, while those who just paid $1 for the mobile version, or even the free version as you can see, get it without the need for any code.
